As Lithuania strives harder by the day for increased investments, it isn’t very hard to come by. Recently we had Sheikh Aimen bin Ahmed al Hosni, the CEO of the Oman airport, which recently received the “World Leading New Airport 2018” at the 25th edition of the World Travel Awards in Lisbon, Portugal. His visit to Lithuania was organized by our very own President of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania, Ms. Alina Adomaityte. On asking the obvious question, why Lithuania? He said ‘We saw that the Lithuanian government is determined to take very strategic decisions to promote economic growth’. Furthermore, he added that Eastern Europe has a lot of room for growth in the aviation industry. As a member of the European Union Lithuania has a lot to offer. The Oman delegation also met with the Vice-Minister of Transport and communication Mr. Ricardas Degutis for understanding how a Lithuanian airport function and to get acquainted with its activities.
Mr. Aimen bin Ahmed al Hosni added that the Oman travel and tourism sector is growing steadily after the opening of the new Muscat International Airport, saying that the total number of flights to Muscat International Airport during the first ten months of this year increased to 5.2 percent over last year, and the number of passengers rose 10.5 percent and hopes to keep the momentum going by adding direct flights from Oman to Vilnius. He also said the Western Europe air routes are very crowded and aviation in Eastern Europe has a huge potential to grow!
During the meeting with the Lithuanian authorities, Sheikh Aimen bin Ahmed al Hosni emphasized that both countries have a lot to gain from a mutually beneficial partnership. Since this being the first visit for a delegation from Oman to visit Lithuania, they wanted to explore further possibilities in Lithuania to see what the country offers as they want to put forth a proposal for the betterment of both countries in the future. In other words, a WIN-WIN strategy. Now, who can be against that?
